MONETA MAN DIES IN CAR ACCIDENT

A 89-year-old Moneta man died Wednesday after the car in which he was riding pulled in front of a pickup truck on U.S. 460 in Bedford County, state police said.

Dispatchers said Lida Ray Tenney died at Bedford Memorial Hospital about 20 minutes after the 12:12 p.m. accident.

They identified the driver of the car as Hazel Massie Tenney, who also was taken to Bedford Memorial. She was in guarded condition and was to be transferred to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a nursing supervisor said.

The dispatchers had no information on other injuries.
