AIDS SPENDING BILL PASSES HOUSE EASILY

Two huge spending bills to help cities and states cope with the AIDS crisis are heading to a conference committee now that the House has approved its $4 billion version.

The House bill was approved 408-14 on Wednesday, sending it to a panel that will compromise it with a Senate version that would spend $1 billion less over five years.

All Virginia representatives voted for the bill.
