ROANOKE WOMAN DIES AFTER FALL FROM ROOF

A woman died Wednesday after falling off the roof of her Southwest Roanoke home early Friday.

Susan Haywood, 33, died about 8:30 a.m. at Community Hospital.

A family member said she never regained consciousness after falling about 12 to 14 feet to a sidewalk about 3 a.m. Friday.

Haywood was known to sit on the roof, said Cheryl Booth, her sister. Police found a blanket where they believe she may have been sitting.

The roof, over a porch, was directly in front of Haywood's bedroom window.

Her body was discovered by the owner of the house in the 1100 block of Winona Avenue.
