PARENT GROUP TO SELL BEN FRANKLIN STORES

A half-dozen Ben Franklin stores in Western Virginia are part of the system of 1,300 retail variety stores placed on the market by its owner, National Intergroup Inc. The parent company said it plans to sell Ben Franklin Stores in Salem, Buchanan, Pembroke, Hillsville, Coeburn and Grundy.

***CORRECTION***

Published correction ran on June 15, 1990\ A proposal to sell Ben Franklin Stores does not affect its 1,300 franchised retail units that are locally owned, including a half-dozen in Western Virginia. Because of a reporter's error, a story in Thursday's editions said the individual stores would be placed on the market.
