Lyme disease, a summertime threat in the great outdoors, is up 62 percent in a year in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control reports.

Airlines will have to use better X-ray machines and pay closer attention to checked-in luggage under new federal directives responding to a presidential commission on terrorism.

Under regulations aimed at limiting child access to dial-a-porn services, the Federal Communications Commission Thursday adopted the following rules: dial-a-porn companies must now require either credit card payments, access codes or scrambling; they must notify phone companies of the adult service; and the calls must show up on customers' phone bills.
