DEVELOPER TO EXHIBIT ART DURING OPEN HOUSE

An art show including works by George Shumate, Jane Stogner, Eric Fitzpatrick and Diane Johnson will be part of the open house June 15, 16 and 17, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., at The Waterways. The artworks all have a lake concept.

The Waterways is being developed by Stanley Danburg's Resort Properties company on 60 acres on Virginia 626 near Smith Mountain Lake State Park. The project was begun a few years ago as Galway Bay by developer Melvin Johnston, and 12 town homes were built before Johnston sold to Danburg.

Bill Berry, projects manager for The Waterways, said four more town homes are nearing completion. The finished project will have up to 70 town homes and 35 single-family lots. Amenities include a heated swimming pool, boat slips and a clubhouse.

The town homes range in price from $149,500 for the two-bedroom units to $169,500 for three bedrooms. Lot prices begin at $29,500 for off-water lots and go from $59,500 up to $129,500 for waterfront property.
