\ MCCOY - Mrs Elsie Swaim Meredith, age 79, died Friday, June 15, 1990, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Bland County, Va. to the late Esley Jacob and Janie Smith Swaim, and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hilyard Meredith, Sr., and a son, Charles Hilyard Meredith, Jr. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Bernard Brotherton, McCoy; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Lydia Meredith, Smithfield; one sister, Nell Townsend, Radford; one brother, Marvin Swaim, Clifton Forge; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Centennial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The Rev. Gordon Lee will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centennial Christian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 427, McCoy, Va., 24111, or the Leukemia Society, 2728 Colonial Ave., S.W., Roanoke, Va., 24015. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hoy-McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg.
