\ RINER - James Edward Bower, age 77, died Friday, June 15, 1990, at his home. He was a retired dairy farmer. He is survived by his wife, Florence Peters Bower; one daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Randolph Altizer, Riner; four grandsons, Russell, Oakie, Jeffrey, and Samuel Altizer, all of Riner; three brothers, Guy Bower and Fred Bower, both of Floyd; Oakley Bower, Christiansburg. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Donald Clay and the Rev. Hebron Quesenberry officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. The body will be placed in the church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, VA 24073. Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, is in charge of arrangements.
