\ FERRUM - Russell Edward Roberts, age 66, of Rt. 1, Ferrum, passed away Friday evening at his home. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy N. Roberts; his mother, Mrs. Dora E. Roberts of Hurt; two daughters, Kimberly J. Roberts, Ferrum; Joyce Ann Cheek of North Carolina; two sons, Eddie N. Roberts of Ferrum; Roy Lee Roberts of Hurt; two stepsons, Larry E. Hancock and Darrell L. Hancock, both of Altavista; three sisters, Recie Clay of Danville; Lois Laviner, Reidsville, N.C.; Barbara Covington, Spout Springs; two brothers, T. O. Roberts of Hurt; Earl Roberts of Altavista; seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday in Lynch Chapel, Rocky Mount, with the Rev. Harold Draper and the Rev. Billy Shively officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends may call at Lynch Funeral Home after 2:30 p.m. Sunday where the family will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Ferrum Rescue Squad.
