RESPECT LIFE, NO MATTER HOW HUMBLE

IT WAS SUCH a pleasure to read an intelligent, dispassionate letter regarding the animal research/animal activitist issue in your newspaper May 30 by Dr. Neal D. Barnard, president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine in Washington, D.C. I, too, am against animal research that is wasteful and/or abuseful. But I am also against using violence to make the public aware of these facts.

Being an animal lover does not mean that I do not love my fellow man. I also love trees, mountains, valleys, the skies with the sun, moon, and stars; I love all nature as created by God above and all around us. I love life in all forms and recognize that all life is interdependent.

Mankind owes its existence to God, who provided the animal and vegetable matter to eat. We owe our lives to God who provided this planet for us, along with all other creatures great and small. Mankind must regain respect for life, be it ever so humble, and we must all learn to love one another.
