RADFORD STUDENT IS TOP MATH CONTESTANT

Brandon Hall, a student at Dalton Intermediate Hall School in Radford, recently was ranked 25th among 224 of the nation's top seventh- and eighth-grade math students in the National MathCounts contest held in Washington.

The National contest consisted of teams of the four top math students from each state in the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam and the District of Columbia. The team from Virginia, which included Hall, placed fourth in the nation out of 56 teams.

MathCounts is sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Cray Research Association, General Motors Foundation and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
