GARDEN-CLUB SPEAKER LECTURES ON BALD EAGLE

The Southside Garden Club of Blacksburg held its June meeting at Blacksburg Methodist Church, with Mrs. J.A. Minnick and Mrs. L.L. Lucas as hostesses.

Guest speaker James D. Fraser discussed "Saving the Bald Eagle." His slide show discussed the extinction of eagles and measures being taken to save them.

New yearbooks were distributed, and members shared excess summer bulbs and plants.

Lynn Glover, chairwoman of civic development, provided entry forms for this year's civic beautification awards.

Mrs. J.F. Robinson won a blue ribbon for artistic design. Blue ribbons for horticulture were awarded to Mrs. D.D. Ludwig, Mrs. J.A. Moore, Mrs. F.C. Morris, Mrs. L.E. Mosely, Mrs. H.L. Price, Mrs. J.F. Robinson and Mrs. R.L. Simpson.

The next meeting is a luncheon at Mrs. H.L. Price's home Aug. 1 at noon.
