BUSHONG TOPS GOLF QUALIFYING

Bushong finished with a 36-hole total of 5-under-par 137, two shots ahead of Stewart Gillespie of Giles. J.W. Entsminger of Lexington and Richard Couch of Virginia were at 140.

Bushong also led qualifying for the Virginia State Open.

Brian Conner of Bassett shot 72 to lead qualifying for the State Junior in the 16-17 age group. Timmy Bower of Floyd was tops in the 14-15 group with a 73, and Brian Glover of the Country Club of Staunton shot 70 to lead the 12-13 group by 15 shots.
