VERNITRON DISPUTES VOTE IN KOLLMORGEN BATTLE

Vernitron Corp., the apparent loser in a proxy fight for control of Kollmorgen Corp., is disputing the results of voting at the May 31 annual shareholders' meeting.

Vernitron, a Deer Park, N.Y., motors and controls company that has tried to take over Kollmorgen for more than a year, said Tuesday it has challenged votes affecting hundreds of thousands of shares. It said the inspectors erred in ruling with management and it is considering legal action.

Kollmorgen said last week that Vernitron had received only 29 percent of the votes.
