TENN. PUBLISHER ROY MCDONALD DIES

Publisher Roy McDonald, who turned a free weekly newspaper into one of Tennessee's most successful and distinctive papers, died Tuesday at age 88.

McDonald, founder and owner of the Chattanooga News-Free Press and the Chattanooga Publishing Co., died in his sleep at his home on nearby Lookout Mountain, family members said.

Funeral services were set for Friday.

Surviviors include his wife, Elizabeth McDonald, and five children.
