OBIT HELMS, J.

James Rodney Helms, Sr., age 78, of Catawba died Tuesday, June 19, 1990. He was a member of Basham Primitive Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Baker Bros. Inc. He was a son of the late Elder John P. and Clara Austin Helms. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Helms; two sons and daughters-in-law, James R. Jr. and Mary W. Helms, Roanoke; John W. (Jay) and Laura W. Helms, Stewartsville; one daughter, Mary Gail Tuck, Catawba; four grandchildren, Ruth Ann, Chad, Jimmy, and Jayme Helms; one brother, Johnny C. Helms, Salem; five sisters, Mrs. Nancy H. Perdue; Mrs. Tiny H. Flippen; Mrs. Hazel H. Bryant; Mrs. Dottie H. Terrell; and Mrs. Pearl H. Pendleton, all of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel on Friday, June 22, 1990 at 1:00 p.m. with Elder Junior Conner, Elder Amos Hash and Elder Raymond Goad officiating. Burial will be in Basham Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel.
