MEMORIAL DAY RAINOUT PROTESTED

I AM QUITE ashamed for the officials who cancelled the ceremonies in Roanoke for Memorial Day. It was an insult to the men who fought and died, and to the women who wore uniforms in time of war.

I am a female veteran of peacetime, and I feel that canceling the ceremony dishonored the memory of our fallen heroes. Our people in uniform served in all types of weather, without regard to personal safety or comfort, so that we can enjoy the freedoms of liberty here in America.

How can this country ever learn respect for our veterans, our flag and our very freedom, if certain individuals in power refuse to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice?
