\ League offers booths for benefit flea market
The League of Older Americans has booths available for its Flea Market Extravaganza, to be held July 14 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 706 Campbell Ave. S.W.
"Drive-in" booths are available for $6, and 8-by-8-foot lawn spaces are available for $4.
The league also is accepting donations of items for its flea market booth and bake sale.

Bob Canfield, grand knight of Roanoke Council 562, Knights of Columbus, recently received the Outstanding Church Award from the organization's Virginia State Council.
\ Boy Scout leaders receive Silver Beaver
Five Roanoke-area Boy Scout leaders recently received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award a local council can give to an adult Scout leader.
Those receiving the award for service to community and youth were Alex L. Martin III and Barry Hensley of Roanoke, Cecil Eastridge of Salem, Norris Goode of Bedford and Thelma Stephens of Troutville.
Also recognized at the annual Leaders Recognition Dinner was Michael Labell of Troop 137 in Troutville. Labell is one of four Scouts in the United States to receive the William T. Hornaday Award for distinguished service in conservation.
