MAJORITY WILL BACK BAN ON FLAG-BURNING

COUNT ON YOU to join Teddy Kennedy and Pat Schroeder in opposing a constitutional amendment to ban flag-burning. But I believe such an amendment has a good shot, as I predict it will garner the support of an overwhelming majority of Americans; as surely as day follows night, most of the politicians will tune their antennas to this sentiment.

Probably, though, Paxton Davis won't be in that majority: He seems to be of the same ilk as you, Teddy and Pat. FRANCIS T. WEST MARTINSVILLE
