MACHER FILES SUITS AGAINST REN HEARD

Ren Heard, the often controversial former master builder for the proposed Explore Park, was named in two lawsuits filed Friday by Roland "Spanky" Macher.

Macher, a recent unsuccessful candidate for Roanoke City Council, claims in the suits that Heard failed to perform repairs and renovations on two pieces of property owned by Macher.

The suits, filed in Roanoke Circuit Court, ask for $50,000 each.

One of the contractual disputes involved work to be done on Macher's Huntington Boulevard home; the other involved an apartment building on Highland Avenue.

In both cases, Macher alleges that Heard failed to complete renovation and electrical work as outlined in contracts.
