NAMES & CHANGES

WILLIAM R. JOHNSON JR. has been named vice Johnson president of manufacturing for Singer Furniture Co. He was formerly production manager for Broyhill Furniture Industries' Occasional and Upholstery divisions, where he had worked since 1969. His office will be at the company's headquarters in Roanoke.

\ D. JERRY SWAN has been named senior vice president in charge of data processing Swan and operations for CorEast Savings Bank. He will be part of the Roanoke-based Senior Management Team. Swan comes to CorEast from Equitable Bank in Baltimore, where he was vice president of strategic planning and development. He was previously with Southeast Bank in Miami, First City Bankcorporation in Houston, and Signet Bank (formerly Union Trust) in Baltimore.

\ THOMAS T. HAWTHORNE III has been promoted to senior vice president at Dominion Bankshares Hawthorne Services Inc., the bank-card and student-loan affiliate of Dominion Bankshares Corp. He manages bank-card credit and customer services, and merchant sales and services. Hawthorne joined the bank as a credit trainee in 1971. He was promoted to credit officer in 1973, assistant vice president and credit manager in 1977, merchant manager in 1982 and vice president in 1983.

\ H. BOYD DICKENSON, chairman and chief executive Dickenson officer of Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern, has been elected president of the Consulting Engineers Council of Virginia for 1990-91. His term begins July 1. The council, headquartered in Richmond, deals with business and professional interests of consulting firms in Virginia. Dickenson joined Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern in 1951 as a design engineer.

\ STEVEN J. WILLIAMS has been promoted to vice president and branch manager at Paine Webber in Roanoke. He will replace Richard F. Corrington, who will retire on July 1. Williams joined the company in 1975 as an investment executive.

\ ROSE CLARDY has been named vice president of marketing for National Business College. She coordinates Clardy advertising, production of promotional materials and public relations. She also is editor of Ideas at Work, the college's quarterly magazine. Clardy joined the college in 1989.\ Yvette Malone has been named director of accounting services, supervising all financial transactions.\ Jerry Causey has been named director of campus operations. He will coordinate all campus academic policies and procedures and train directors and administrative assistants.
