The way Sally John sees it, maybe it was good timing when her husband, Tommy, was sent involuntarily into retirement.

"He wouldn't have time to play baseball now," she said.

"He has to follow Taylor around."

The Johns are about to become roadshow groupies because their 8-year-old son, Taylor, makes his debut Tuesday night in Dallas as Gavroche in the musical "Les Mis'erables."

Taylor, the youngest of the four John children, auditioned for the role in New York last month and was selected to play the young revolutionary on a tour that will take him to more cities than a baseball road trip.
