SALEM'S WILSON WINS FCS FEATURE

Dickie Wilson of Salem survived a war of attrition to win the Valvoline Late Model Stock race Saturday night at Franklin County Speedway.

Wilson was the winner of a race in which Roanoke's Andy Roberts and five other drivers were knocked out by accidents. Track champion Frankie Pennington of Lexington was second and Bobby Radford of Ferrum finished third.

Sonny Arrington of Vinton took the pole and led all the way to win the 25-lap Mini-Stock race. Shelby Cundiff of Vinton was second and Steve Lynch of Rocky Mount finished third.

Jay Foley of Fairystone led flag-to-flag in the Street Stock event, followed by Kenny Wagner of Roanoke and Randy Arrington of Redwood.

Chad Smith of Rocky Mount beat out Tim Hogan of Rocky Mount in the Six-Cylinder race. Brian Spangler of Floyd was third.

Clifford Jackson of Roanoke won his fifth rookie event of the season, and 13-year-old Donnie Taylor, son of track promoter Whitey Taylor, finished seventh in his first race.
