COMMERCIAL GROUP TO MEET

The Roanoke Commercial Industrial Investment Multiple Listing Service group will meet Thursday at 8:15 a.m. at The Roanoker Restaurant. The speaker will be Robert C. Crawford Jr., promotion manager for Lingerfelt Development Corp. Lingerfelt, a Richmond company, has the Valleypointe project near Roanoke Municipal Airport.

The commercial group voted recently to support consolidation of Roanoke and Roanoke County.

Firm to work on addition

Martin & Associates of Roanoke will provide architectural and engineering services for a 60,000-square-foot addition to the Valley Vocational-Technical Center in Augusta County.

The $1.8 million addition, to be started in August and completed by September 1991, will enable the Vo-Tech Center to add from 350 to 400 students, according to John Avoli, director and principal. When this is completed, daytime enrollment is expected to reach 1,300. Another 2,000 are expected for evening classes.

Larry Degen, project architect for Martin, designed an 8,000-square-foot area of the center to be used to train severely handicapped students and adults.

Vocational students will be allowed to assist with the interior construction, under the direction of the Martin firm.
