N.C. MAN CHARGED IN FATAL I-77 COLLISION

A 49-year-old North Carolina man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving while intoxicated in Wednesday's fatality on Interstate 77 south of Wytheville.

Willis Harrison, of Mooresville, N.C., who apparently was driving south in the northbound lane, also is charged with refusing to take a breath or blood test.

His pickup truck collided with a northbound Jeep driven by Charles Arthur Ranson, 48, of Ojai, Calif., who was killed.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 10.
