\ NEWPORT - Dewey S. Lucas, age 73, died Monday evening in a Blacksburg hospital. A native of Newport, Va., he is the son of the late Edgar Lee and Fannie Porterfield Lucas. He was a Charter Member and Chairman of the Board of Elders at the First Christian Church of Newport. He was retired with 41 years of service from the Hoechst Celanese Plant at Narrows and a member of the Celco Sunshine Club. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Porterfield Lucas; one son, Donald Burton Lucas, Newport; two daughters, Mrs. David (Doris) Link, Newport; Mrs. Michael (Linda) Jones, Danville, Ind.; two brothers, Lewis B. Lucas and Caudill Lucas, both of Newport; one sister, Lena L. Tawney, Newport; ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. in the Williams-Jamison-Kendall Funeral Home, Pembroke with the Rev. Anna Jarvis, the Rev. Reginald Rumburg, and the Rev. Richard Rhae, officiating. Interment will be in the Lucas family cemetery in Newport. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the First Christian Church of Newport Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society.
