LIBRARY WINS AAA HONORS

The Library has been awarded a four-diamond rating by the American Automobile Association. The restaurant will be listed in AAA's 1991 Mid-Atlantic TourBook, to be published in March.

The ratings range from one diamond to the highest award of five diamonds. Of the 6,700 North American restaurants that AAA visited and rated for its 1990 tour books, only 14 received five diamonds.

There were no five-diamond restaurants in Virginia in 1990 and only one four-diamond restaurant, The Old Mill Room in Charlottesville, said Geoff Sundstrom, AAA's public information manager.

AAA, a non-profit organization that works for the improvement of motoring and traveling conditions, has been rating accommodations since 1909. The organization added its restaurant rating program in 1985. It has a staff of 60 full-time hotel and restaurant inspectors, whose visits are unannounced.

More restaurants are being reviewed for the 1991 tour books, so it is possible that there will be other four-diamond awards made in Virginia, Sundstrom added. Complete award information will be released in the fall.
