\ MARION - Ernest E. "Buck" Sawyers, age 67, died Wednesday in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was a retired supervisor at Harwood Manufacturing Company with 43 years service. He was a member of the Furnace Hill Lutheran Church and a member of the Marion V.F.W. Post #4667. He is survived by his wife, Jessie D. Sawyers, Marion; one son, E. Wayne Sawyers, Dublin; two daughters, Carol Lucas, Radford; Kay Lynch, San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Beulah Medley, Lola Cregger, Mary Doss, all of Marion; one brother, William Harold Sawyers, Sr., Marion; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, 2:00 p.m. in the Furnace Hill Lutheran Church with Pastor Edd Schaack and Pastor Murray Ziegenfuss. Burial will follow in Attoway Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Marion V.F.W. Post #4667. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 until 9:00 at Barnett's Funeral Chapel. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service to lie in state.
