\ Foster Aubrey Ayers, age 79, of Salem, died Wednesday in a Roanoke hospital. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Salem. He was retired from the New York Ship Building Corporation, Camden, N.J. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Lee Ayers; one sister, Billie Brown, Charleston, W.Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday. The funeral will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. James G. Holloman officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood.
