PHILADELPHIA TEEN-AGER CHARGED WITH CRACK, FIREARM POSSESSION

Two Philadelphia teen-agers have been arrested in a Roanoke housing project, and one was charged with possession of 44 rocks of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, Roanoke police said Wednesday.

Police officers on patrol in the 700 block of Hunt Avenue N.W. saw two teen-agers trespassing on the grounds of the apartment project about 5 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

Both said they were from Philadelphia, and neither could give an address or the name of any apartment resident they were visiting, police said.

The officers spotted crack cocaine on one of the teen-agers. When the officers asked the two to stand up, one of them dropped a semiautomatic weapon that had been concealed in his clothing.

A 17-year-old boy who was not identified was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession of a firearm while having the drug. His 19-year-old companion, Demont Ramseure, was charged with trespassing.
