IN SCHOOL

BETTY McGEORGE and MARY H. STEINHARDT were honored by the Southwest Virginia Association for Early Childhood Education during the Week of the Young Child. McGeorge, center supervisor/lead teacher at Total Action Against Poverty's Jefferson Street Child Development Center, received the Teacher of the Year award.

Steinhardt, an associate professor at Virginia Western Community College, received the group's Outstanding Service Award to Young Children. She also received Virginia Association For the Education of Young Children's Outstanding Award to Young Children.
