\ PATRICIA A. BIJWAARD has been awarded a fellowship for six weeks of study in the United States and England by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Bijwaard, chairperson of the English department at Hidden Valley Junior High School, will also participate in the NEH's Summer Seminar for Teachers, "Shakespeare: Enacting the Text," from July 2 through Aug. 10.
NORMA JEAN PETERS and LORRAINE S. LANGE have been awarded fellowships to the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Peters is supervisor of social studies and foreign languages for Roanoke County Schools, and Lange is supervisor of language arts.
The weeklong institute on writing, reading and civic education will explore approaches and strategies to revitalize civic learning in the secondary curriculum.
\ C. WILLIAM HILL JR., professor of political science at Roanoke College, has been awarded a grant by the Mednick Fellowship Committee of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges.
Hill has been a member of the Roanoke College faculty since 1969. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Hill is director of the college's Honor Program.
