INDIANS NEEDED A BORDER PATROL

SINCE 1985, I have enjoyed reading your publication daily. Especially interesting have been letters by Pocahontas H. Mitchell of Abingdon.

As a part of my work experiences in the alcohol/other drugs field these past 20 years, and having resided in Arizona for 27 years, I have counseled and educated Navajos, Apaches, Salt-River Pimas, Cherokees, Papagos, Chickasaws and one Paiute.

In reply to the question posed by her most recent letter, "Where did Indian fit into democracy?", my answer is brief: They didn't make their immigration laws tough enough!
