2 NAMED TO POSITIONS IN BEDFORD SCHOOLS

Denzil Barker, a 27-year employee of Bedford County Public Schools, has been named director of instruction for the school division.

Barker will replace Eldred Mauldin, who died in January. In the past eight years, Barker has been an instruction specialist for middle school education.

In another personnel matter Thursday, the Bedford County School Board appointed Faye Craghead principal of Thaxton Elementary. Craghead replaces Michael Johnson, who will move to a position in the county's central office.

The School Board also approved a $2,249,501 contract to renovate and expand Boonsboro Elementary School. The project had been budgeted for $2.1 million.

The project is scheduled for completion by the fall of 1991.
