BOAT RACING RESULTS

The Blackwater Yacht Racing Association held its sunfish regatta Saturday, June 23. A series of three races were held with good winds. Winners were:

First place: Alison Nordt of Salem.

Second place: Robin Giles of Roanoke.

Third place: Ben Gardner of Martinsville.

The next BYRA event, a single-handle race for keelboats, will be held July 21 at Pelican Point Yacht Club. It is limited to one person, one class per boat. Skipper's meeting will be at 3:30, race at 4:30.

On Oct. 27-28 BYRA will host the Michelob Cup Invitational at Pelican Point Yacht Club. There will be two races on Saturday, Oct. 27. Registration will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m., skipper's meeting at 10, and the first race at 11. On Sunday, Oct. 28 skipper's meeting will be at 10 a.m. followed by one race at 11.

The Virginia Inland Sailing Association held its centerboard races on Sunday, June 24. Winners were:

First place: Lee Shaffer of Roanoke - Rebel, Avanti.

Second place: Ken Bay of Moneta - Day Sailer, Altair.

Third place: Glenn McGrath of Lynchburg - Laser.
