JOHN TREVEY, 57, VIRGINIA NATIVE, KY. SENATOR, DIES

Dr. John E. Trevey, 57, a native of Big Island and a Kentucky state senator, died Thursday after suffering a heart attack.

Trevey was in the Kentucky House 1977-79 and was serving his third term as senator.

Trevey was a 1955 graduate of Virginia Military Institute and received a medical degree in 1959 from Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He interned at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in 1959-60.

He was a past chief of staff at Galax General Hospital and a former medical examiner for Galax and Grayson County.

Among the survivors are his mother, Mary Horton Trevey of Big Island; son, John Harrison Trevey of Richmond; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Trevey; and sister, Mrs. C. David (Betty) Blue of Lynchburg.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Central Baptist Church in Lexington, Ky.
