NEW RIVER PEOPLE

Several area residents have been cited by Outstanding Young Men of America and are listed in the organization's awards publication for 1989.

\ JOHN FREDERICK WAMPLER, JOSEPH ALAN ATTISANO, RODERICK JACKSON REASOR and\ BARRY ALAN SEAVER, Blacksburg;\ BRADLEY EVAN DUNN, RANDAL JOHN DUNCAN and\ CRAIG RANDOLPH CHRISMAN, Radford;\ JOSE MIGUEL MELENDEZ, Christiansburg; and\ PHILLIP DUAINE CRIGGER, Dublin, were recognized for civic and professional contributions to their communities and the nation.

\ WAIPING ALICE LO, Blacksburg, is the 1990 recipient of the Glen E. Hubele National Graduate Student Award from the American Association for Counseling and Development. A graduate research assistant at Virginia Tech, Lo was recognized for outstanding work on her thesis, "Courtship Violence."

The Wilderness Road Chorus has elected 1991 officers:\ MARY ANN JOHNSON, Blacksburg, president;\ DOT COVEY, Hiwassee, vice president;\ BOBBIE WHITE, Dublin, recording secretary;\ RUBY MEADE, Radford, treasurer.

\ EULA S. MEDLEY of Christiansburg is retiring from Radford Army Ammunition Plant after 37 years. She was an accounting specialist. Medley and her husband, Harold, have two sons, Robert of Blacksburg and Benny of Christiansburg, both of whom work at the plant.

\ HASSELL F. BOOTHE, an engineer at Radford Army Ammunition Plant, is retiring after 31 years. He and his wife, Ruth, live in Christiansburg and have four children.

\ HARRY D. AKERS, a maintenance supervisor at Radford Army Ammunition Plant, is retiring after more than 28 years. He and his wife, Jettie, live in Wytheville.

\ WILLIAM O. REYNOLDS, carpenter shop foreman, is retiring from Radford Army Ammunition Plant after more than 28 years. He and his wife, Grace, live in Blacksburg and have three children.
