Truman Harley Hampton, age 64, of Route 5, died Saturday, June 30, 1990, in the V.A. Medical Center, Salem. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He was a retired carpenter and was a U.S. Navy veteran and also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Lee Hampton; two sons, James Harley Hampton, California; Glen Rayburn Hampton, Troutville; two daughters, Sherry Hampton LaPrade and Lorena Gay Hampton, both of Troutville; four grandchildren, April LaPrade, Christopher Giles, Chad Hampton, and Brandi Hampton; father, Harley B. Hampton, North Carolina; one brother, Wayne Hampton, Alabama; two sisters, Wilma Allen and Valeria Lewis, both of North Carolina. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 2, with the Rev. G.M. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
