Mrs. Mary Ann Childress Jones, age 73, of 512 Hayworth Circle, died Saturday
at her home. Mrs. Jones was born June 30, 1917, in Santa Barbara, Calif., a
daughter of Sidney P. and Maud Davis Childress. On January 18, 1943, she was
married to David R. Jones Sr. who survives her. She had been a resident of
High Point since 1965. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a
former president of the High Point Garden Council, and was a homemaker. In
addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Susan McNeely
of Mooresville, N.C.; one son, David R. Jones Jr. of Greensboro; her mother,
Mrs. Maud Childress of High Point; two brothers, Sidney H. Childress of High
Point and Vincent D. Childress of Morganton; four grandchildren. A memorial
service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in
High Point by Dr. R. Scott Woodmansee. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m.
Tuesday at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, Va. The family will receive
friends at the residence. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of the
Piedmont, 414 West High Ave., High Point, N.C., 27260, or the First
Presbyterian Church. Sechrest Funeral Service, High Point, N.C., is in charge
of arrangements.
