OBIT--WHALEY, B.

WHALEY, BENTON M.\ Benton McCabe Whaley, age 81, of Roanoke, died in a Roanoke hospital Saturday. He was retired from security work, was a member of Virginia Heights Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, Kazim Shrine Temple, and served in the Navy during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Grace H. Whaley; brother, John W. Whaley; nephew and wife, John E. (Buddy) and Anna Lee Whaley, all of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel at 12:00 noon Thursday, July 5, by the Rev. Mark Radecke. Masonic graveside services will be conducted at Evergreen Burial Park by the Virginia Heights Masonic Lodge. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Roanoke chapter of the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.
