CANNADAY WINS FINAL IN STAR CITY

Top-seeded Alan Cannaday won the third-set tie-breaker 7-3 to edge second-seeded Steve Phillips 6-4, 0-6, 7-6 in the men's singles championship match of the Star City Tennis Championship on Sunday at River's Edge Tennis Complex.

Cannaday also shared in the men's doubles title, teaming with Nelson Prillaman to beat the top-seeded team of John Barker and Mark Snead 6-4, 7-6 (9-7).

In women's singles, No. 1 seed Michelle Monsour downed Michelle Stoehr 6-3, 6-3.

Lynn Snead and Suzy Fink captured the women's doubles, whipping Jane Judah and Amy Bagliani 6-1, 6-2.

Prillaman and Linda Leffler beat Mark and Lynn Snead 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in mixed doubles.

The girls' 14 singles crown went to Armistead Lemon, who downed Amy Speas 6-2, 6-1. - Staff report
