PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN BOTETOURT COUNTY

Dead at the scene was Raymond Vernon Webb, 63, of Whitewood.

Webb had just left a grocery store and was struck by a car as he was crossing the highway in front of the store, Trooper G.E. Ayers said.

Charged with felony hit-and-run in the 2:10 a.m. incident was Steven Mays Childress of Troutville, state police said.
