Rev. Brown Jarrett, age 67, of 1012 Beverly Drive, Rockhill, S.C. and formerly of Elizabethton, died Sunday morning, July 1, 1990 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an illness of two months. He was a native of Paris, Ken. and was the son of the late Alf and Mattie Woody Jarrett. He had been a Baptist Minister for thirty years and had pastored seven churches during his ministry, one of which was East Side Baptist Church in Elizabethton, Tenn. from 1958 to 1967. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salem. He was a disabled U.S. Army Veteran serving with the Medical Corp in WW II. He was preceded in death by two brothers, A.J. Jarrett and Shelton Jarrett. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nell Dellinger Jarrett of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Becky Eason of Rockhill, S.C.; four sons, Larry Jarrett of Gray, Tenn.; James Jarrett of Tallahassee, Fla; Paul Jarrett of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and Steve Jarrett of Mission Viejo, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Edith J. Garland of Jonesborough, Tenn.; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 1990 from East Side Baptist Church with Rev. Gale Hartley, and Rev. Paul Jarrett officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Bill Broome, Soloist, and Mrs. Grace Wetzel, Organist. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be his sons, his son-in-law, and his oldest grandson, Jason Jarrett. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
