FIVE BUCS ON ALL-STAR TEAM

Five Salem Buccaneers have been named to the Northern Division team for the Carolina League All-Star game July 18 at County Stadium in Woodbridge.

Making the starting team were catcher Mandy Romero, who is hitting .247 with seven home runs and 46 RBI; outfielder Darwin Pennye (.272, eight HR, 35 RBI) and designated hitter Chris Estep (.216, 12 HR, 36 RBI).

Also named to the squad were third baseman Bruce Schreiber (.294) and left-handed reliever Mike Pomeranz (3-5, 4.24 ERA, one save). Former Salem shortstop Mike Huyler made the team but is playing for Harrisburg of the Class AA Eastern League.
