HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT REACHING COMPETITION OVERLOAD

Like water rushing through a spillway, turbulence is gathering around a proposed hydroelectric project at the Gathright Dam in Alleghany County.

Competing interests are facing off over a proposal to commercially develop power at the dam, which forms Lake Moomaw 20 miles north of Covington.
