Jay Barrs, the 1988 Olympic gold medalist archer, will miss the Virginia CorEast State Games.

The 28-year-old archery coach at Arizona State was scheduled to demonstrate long-range, Olympic-style shooting during competition Thursday at McClelland Street Park in Salem. Instead, Barrs has committed to another competition in Houston, Texas. - staff report
