William Dewey Mason, Sr., of 5077 Yellow Mountain Road, died at his home, Tuesday. He was a member of Rockingham Court United Methodist Church and a retired contractor. He was preceded in death by Mary Guthrie Mason (mother of William D. Mason, Jr.); and Elizabeth Wagner Mason (mother of Adelia and Martha). Surviving are a son, William Dewey Mason, Jr., Roanoke; two daughters, Martha Mason Wood, Roanoke; and Adelia Mason Rivers, Roanoke; grandchildren, Patricia Mason Huff, Roanoke; William Burrell Mason, Roanoke; Lisa Wood, J. T. Wood, and Aaron Mason Rivers; great-grand-children, Mary Patricia Huff; and Ainsley Marie Huff, William Trent Mason, and Tiffany Anne Mason, all of Roanoke; also several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel on Friday, July 6, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ben Chidester and the Rev. Jim Rivers, officiating. The interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. The Family will receive friends on Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
