CRAIG SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER REAPPOINTED

Thomas A. Zimmerman, mayor of New Castle, has been reappointed to a second four-year term on the the Craig County School Board. He will represent the New Castle Magisterial District.

"I have mixed feelings [about being reappointed to the board]. I wanted the position, of course, or I wouldn't have applied for it. We have some problems facing us, and with my experience, I felt it would be easier for me to tackle these problems than for a new person," said Zimmerman, who was reappointed by the Craig County Board of Supervisors on June 29.

Zimmerman, 44, is a native of Craig and has has a daughter who is a 1990 graduate of Craig County High School. Another child will enter the eighth grade in September.

Joyce Gillingham, a teacher in the Head Start program in Craig County, was the only other candidate seeking Zimmerman's seat on the school board.
