Mr. James Elmer Blackwell, age 66, died July 3, 1990 at Riverside Peninsula Hospital in Gloucester, Va. He was a native of Rockbridge Co. and made his home in Gloucester for the past 13 years. He retired as production manager of Gloucester Matthews Gazette Journal in September 1989. He was a World War II Veteran, a member of New Monmouth Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the church choir. He was a member of Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bernice McKemy Blackwell; one son, Ronald Blackwell of Manassas; two daughters, Deborah Klonowski, and Carolyn Blackwell both of Manassas; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; four sisters, Kate Hullett and Gladys Brown both of Martinsville; Joyce Rankin of Staunton; Doris Lunsford of Brownsburg; one brother, Kenneth Blackwell of Lexington. Friends may call from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on July 4, 1990 at Hogg Funeral Home in Gloucester Point and from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on July 5, 1990 at Harrison Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. at Harrison Funeral Home. Burial will be at New Monmouth Cemetery.
