OLD DOMINION HIRES FORMER MAROON WEBER

Old Dominion basketball coach Tom Young said Thursday that Rick Weber and Stan Nance will serve as the Monarchs' top assistant coaches for the coming season.

Weber was a graduate assistant at Old Dominion last season. A 1980 graduate of Roanoke College, he joined the Monarchs after serving as head coach for five seasons at Calvert County High School in Prince Frederick, Md. His high school teams posted an 81-38 mark, including three consecutive conference titles and two trips to the state final four.

He also was head coach at Amherst County High from 1982-84.

Nance, who played for Young at Rutgers, was an assistant at Miami the past two years. He also has been an assistant at Rutgers, Boston College, St. Peter's and Virginia Commonwealth. - Associated Press
